here are some fun facts about capybaras
Capybaras are the largest rodents on Earth! They can grow up to 4 feet in length and weigh as much as 140 pounds
Capybaras are very social and live in groups of 10 to 20 individuals. Sometimes, they even form groups of up to 100 in the wild.
Capybaras are excellent swimmers. They can hold their breath for up to 5 minutes underwater and love to swim in rivers, lakes, and ponds
Capybaras are herbivores and mainly eat grasses, aquatic plants, and fruits. They are known for being gentle grazers
Capybaras are known to have peaceful interactions with many animals. Birds often perch on their backs, and smaller animals like monkeys and even turtles sometimes hitch rides on their backs!
They communicate with each other using a range of sounds, including purrs, whistles, and barks. Capybaras even "talk" to their friends and family members using a series of low-frequency vocalizations.
Capybaras are known for being calm and friendly, making them popular pets in some places. They love to soak up the sun and often lie down in a relaxed position.
Although they are social, capybaras can be territorial. They mark their territory using scent glands located near their tails.
When baby capybaras (called pups) are born, they can already walk and swim within a few hours!
Capybaras can live up to 10-12 years in the wild, and even longer in captivity
